My name is Alexander Richens. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have a wonderful fiancé named Taynara and a munchkin cat named Samantha. I was pretty much born into healthcare. I spent all of my summers at my parents' dental office and I have been assisting my parents with dental procedures since I was 6 years old. Eventually, I decided to pursue a career in nursing, which led to my current job as a Med Tech/CNA. I chose to write about this topic because I work closely with the elderly passing their medications, helping residents change their brief when it's dirty, and assisting with activities of daily life. During my time in this field, I have seen many people who neglect their responsibilities as an aide. There are many aides in this field that simply do not change their residents, sometimes to the point where horrible rashes form putting elders in severe discomfort. I believe that there needs to be more awareness of this problem in order to break the cycle of elder abuse in our society.
